While they have healed, I still have two brown spots left to remember them by... and, for some reason, these spots always seem to last infinitely longer than the pimples themselves.
So, what to do? Number one - don't pick them - however irresistible the urge. And don't pick your pimples. Picking is the habit that causes the dark spots. Let's get rid of these spots the expert way.
The formula: 3 parts product, 1 part patience
Believe it or not, the number one product to use is sunscreen (which you should already be using daily). Sunscreen prevents dark spots from becoming even darker.
Product number two is a bleaching product, or depigmenter. Dr. Schultz suggests using a product with peptides twice a day. This keeps cells from making more melanin, which is the substance that gives your skin its color.
And finally, who could forget the trusted exfoliant. A gentle chemical exfoliant will help take off any dead cells that hold too much brown pigment.
Now, if the following trifecta of products doesn't quite cut it, add in an antioxidant with vitamin c, for an extra boost of healing power.
And don't pick! I know it's as hard as leaving a itch unscratched... but give it a shot. What do you have to lose? Oh wait, brown spots...
