It was an exciting hour on Wednesday! Dr. Schultz answered an array of questions from some of his biggest fans and some of his newest. All in all, it was a great way to get to know the ins and outs of real skincare issues, which Dr. Schultz is all about fixing.

Here's a little recap:

A Quick Fix for Wrinkles

Dr. Schultz began by sharing a tidbit from one of his recent interviews. Take a little Vaseline and rub the area below your eye and right next to your eye for about five minutes. Your skin will likely turn red and a bit of swelling might occur but, this is good! The swelling will actually ease the appearance of lines and winkles around your eyes for a good two to three hours.

The Real Deal on Retin-A

This was a popular topic. Andrew asked when he might start seeing results when using .025% strength Retin-A every other night (he's been using the product for about 9 weeks). Dr. Schultz recommended that he use the product every night for 2-3 weeks before upping the strength. He also explained that if he was using it for acne, he should have seen results by now. When using it for exfoliation, it takes a bit longer to see results; fine lines and wrinkles should start fading after a few months.

How does Retin-A differ from Glycolics?

Sarah chimed in to ask what the difference was between Retin-A and glycolics, to which Dr. Schultz gave a simple answer. Glycolics have a great range of strength (1-20%) while retinoids only come in three strengths. Glycolics are versatile, and can be easily customized and tweaked to suit your skin. I'm liking the sound of that...

Should it cause breakouts?

Sam added that he got horrible breakouts all over his forehead after using Retin-A for 3 days. Yikes! Dr. Schultz said this isn't a typical reaction and it likely means that this isn't the right product. But he also brought up an important point. Anytime you start a skincare program, there is no reason to get worse before you get better (we aren't battling our skincare problems in a movie like Independence Day).
