There are so many new and exciting advances in skincare, which has resulted in lots of new great products with new active ingredients. But how many active ingredients is too many active ingredients? 2, 5, ten?
That's a trick question, because it's not about how many different active ingredients you can use at the same time‰Û_ There‰Ûªs no limit. The real question is how many different layers of products can you put on before it begins to start to feel too heavy on your skin, or until the sheer volume of the layering starts to dilute the previous products you've applied. Let me explain.
In terms of there being no limit to the number of active ingredients you can use at the same time, think about skincare products that have three, four or even ten active ingredients in them. They are formulated so there's no conflict between those active ingredients. So the real issue concerns the vehicle, or the liquid or cream, that the actives are dissolved in. By the time you have put three or four products on, the vehicles can become either too heavy on your skin, or just not feel comfortable, or just feel like they're not completely absorbing into the skin‰Û_
So the real answer is one of common sense and how they feel to you. If you've layered three products on your skin and it feels right, that's fine. If you've layered six products on your skin, and it doesn't feel too heavy, that's fine too. But, when one product just doesn't seem to set, or seems to be sliding off your skin, because you have so many others underneath, then you've probably reached your limit.
