Vitamins for Better Skin?

Do these vitamins work? After reading the label, I thought that I might see what Dr. Schultz had to say on the subject before I spent the cash.

The Truth About Vitamins

The reality is, unless you are malnourished or have a vitamin deficiency, taking extra vitamins won't have any affect (positive or negative) on your nails or hair. No medical evidence suggests that these supplements will give you a boost, although there is plenty of marketing material out there that says they will.

How Vitamins Work in Your Body

Bummer. But, Dr. Schultz's explanation made sense. Your body only needs a small amount of the vitamins it uses for your hair and nails, and these amounts are often times present in your daily diet. He went on further to explain that these vitamins work in your body like "on" and "off" switches. Think of it this way: say you turn on the light in your living room. Unless you have some fancy track lighting or a dimmer, pressing on the switch won't make the light any brighter. This is the case with vitamins. Normal amounts allow for normal growth.

Bottom line, while the vitamins are tempting, I think I'll be spending my money on essential products, like exfoliants, antioxidants and sunscreen, that I know will keep me looking my best.
